Recent News
It’s been an exciting semester at Clemson this fall. Perhaps the biggest catalyst has been the restructuring and inclusion of a formal Bible study into our POWER groups. Bonds of love and trust have formed that have allowed the members of each group to open up about personal struggles and rejoicings that the Lord is guiding them through. The leaders have taken a huge step of owning their group – adapting the material and conversations to the individual spiritual needs can be difficult and very time consuming, but the leaders of each group see the value in it as their members develop a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ. It’s been exciting to see more and more people make Cross Impact and POWER groups one of their primary venues for ministering to other people.
The fellowship present at Friday night bonfires has allowed individuals to get to know people outside their own POWER group. Whether it is singing praises to the Lord, roasting marshmallows for s’mores, or chatting until the other side of midnight, a sweet spirit of fellowship is always present in these bi-weekly events.
Sixteen members of the Clemson Cross Impact group met with hundreds of other students at the Wild’s College & Career retreat this fall where Kerry McGonigal challenged us to let God’s Word inform and transform our relationships with Him, other Christians, people that are different from us, and even those presenting us with God’s Word. A time of group testimonies before heading back to Clemson revealed that Christ had planted many seeds of change in our hearts through the preaching of His Word.
Many stories of life-changing events were seen on November 5th as the men gathered for the challenge of the semester: “Preach your testimony” during the semi-annual preaching symposium. Stories of lives changed by the gospel of Jesus Christ were both encouraging and challenging as college students with little or no formal training presented excellent sermons from the Word of God.
Coming up soon is our next outreach event: Paintball. We’ll invite friends, acquaintances, and strangers to join us for a day full of excitement as we work to expand the influence of the gospel on the Clemson campus. Please pray that visitors would attend and that we would be able to connect with them for the sake of Jesus Christ. We’ll attempt to appropriately display His work in our lives as well as share how He wants to do the same in each of their lives, through a personal relationship with Him.
